Halloween is nigh in the city of London. Ghosts and ghouls, werewolves and witches will line the streets, collecting candy in pumpkin head buckets; but it's not only about begging for Haribo's and Mars bars — there's some spine-tingling attractions to visit.
1. Mexican Day of the Dead
Embrace all things Mexican with a Day of the Dead party. Many bars will be transforming into "spooky cemeteries", complete with plenty of tequila cocktails, a Mexican feast and make-up artists on hand to keep everyone's death masks on point. Drink, dance, enjoy.
2. Halloween Cabaret
The London Cabaret Club are interrupting their season of James Bond themed cabaret for a Halloween special. Expect a mix of glamour, stunning performances and Halloween themed acts.
3. Horror Movie Extravaganza at the Electric
If you like your Halloween served with a healthy portion of horror, head to the legendary Electric on Portobello Road. They're billing it as "the best worst night of your life" and we can see why: things kick off at 11.45 and guests will be kept awake with an espresso martini and back-to-back chillers, from Psycho to Friday 13th. There'll be four films in total, breakfast served after the second offering and a couple of surprises to. Be prepared to spend a night terrified.
4. Secret Halloween Ball
One of the most decadent Halloween affairs comes out to play this October as the secretive Halloween Ball returns. A fancy dress foray in a private underground venue, not only will there be two floors of DJs, live performances and blood curdling art to boot, there's set to be entertainers, make up artists and more. Keep your eyes and ears peeled as the venue will be announced on the day.
5. The Wicker Man Screening at The Brewhouse
The Brewhouse of London Fields brewery makes for the perfect spot to hunker down with a pillow for protection as the 70s classic The Wicker Man is screened. Especially for Halloween, this horror epic will scare you to your core. Lucky there's some hard liquors on hand to keep you topped up with a an after-screening party set to go down too.
